Promote Your Web Site
How do I get customers to my Web site? You have probably heard, "Submit your site to search engines!" Well, that's a good start, however, that is only one step. It's a common misconception that by just having a Web site your products will sell. True, but not true. Having a Web site certainly helps, but there's more to it.
Here are some tips to help drive traffic to your site.... and keep them coming back.
Wear it
Ever look in your closet and wonder what you are going to wear? How about a shirt with your domain name on it? Top that off with a cap, or maybe a jacket.

Domain name placement
Put your domain name on your vehicle, shirts, and promotional items. How about a press release, advertisement, or newsletter? Don't forget the obvious! Place your domain name on all forms of correspondence such as letterhead, business cards, envelopes, and a simple signature line at the end of your email messages to include your name, business name, address, phone, fax, home page, email address, and "specials" that you may have.

Generate positive word of mouth.
It's amazing how much business you can get from your family and friends. If they know what you do, chances are they know someone who could use your services or product.
BUT, how likely is your site to generate positive word of mouth? If your site offers customers a good experience, chances are they'll talk it up.
Word-of-mouth marketing from consumer to consumer has it's rewards. Messages about products aren't only originating from marketers any more. Now, email allows for dynamic, unpredictable word-of-mouth communication between consumers, the media, and other companies.

BEWARE!
Instead of spending huge sums on advertising and PR, that money might be better spent on market research to help you discover what features make for a great customer experience on your Web site. Develop a Web site that addresses the real needs of visitors, and you not only give them reason to return again and again, but also to bring their friends.
